On November 15, 2015, a young student by the name of Katelynn Lopez arrived on the campus of the Los Angeles Technology Center with her father and enrolled in the Accelerated College and Career Transition/ACCT program. With only 10 credits completed during the first three years of high school, she had little hope of earning her high school diploma before her 18th birthday. Nonetheless, she persevered, passed the HiSet and completed the required 50 credits to earn her high school diploma by the Summer of 2016.

LA Unified Adult School, Occupational and Skills Center Campuses Are Tuition Free and Will Begin Online. Enroll Now!

All LA Unified Division of Adult and Career Education fall classes are tuition free* and will begin online the week of August 17.

ESL classes give English learners opportunities to study and practice English language communications skills, including: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Competency-based courses span seven levels ranging from basic literacy to advanced English language development.

Los Angeles Technology Center (LATC), part of Los Angeles Unified School District’s Division of Adult and Career Education; has been providing high-quality, low-cost education and training since 1966. Students can prepare for a new career, earn a high school diploma or High School Equivalency (HiSET), learn English, or upgrade skills for a new or existing career.

A little over a year ago, Geoff Smith made a living moving furniture and doing the occasional handyman job. Customers sometimes offered him better paying construction work, but, regretfully, Geoff declined because he didn’t have the skills needed to do the job right.....
